Preflop Ranges
Position-based opening charts and how to read visual range grids.
A range is the set of hands you'd play in a given spot. Instead of thinking "what should I do with this hand?", strong players think "what is the best strategy for my entire range in this position?"
The range grid shows all 169 starting hand combinations. Pairs on the diagonal, suited hands above (top-right), offsuit hands below (bottom-left).
Position changes everything: From UTG you might open 15% of hands. From the Button, 40โ50%. The later your position, the wider your range can be โ you'll have positional advantage for the rest of the hand.
