A continuation bet (c-bet) is a bet on the flop made by the preflop aggressor — "continuing" the story that you have a strong hand. It's one of the most common plays in poker.

When to c-bet vs check

Dry board (K72 rainbow)

C-bet frequentlyFew draws, board favours the preflop raiser's range

Wet board (9♠8♠7♥)

Out of position, large field

Size matters: A 33% pot c-bet forces the same fold equity as a 50% bet on many boards but costs less when called. Small, high-frequency c-bets are the modern approach on dry boards.
