Hand Rankings

All 10 poker hands ranked from high card to royal flush — with visual examples.

Every hand of poker resolves by comparing hand rankings. The player with the highest-ranked 5-card combination wins the pot. There are exactly 10 hand categories, ranked from best to worst.

Remember: You always use your best 5 cards from the 7 available (2 hole + 5 board). You don't have to use both hole cards — or either.

Suits are never used to break ties in Texas Hold'em. Two flushes are ranked by their highest card only. When two players make the same hand, the kicker (next highest card) decides the winner.

A Royal Flush (A-K-Q-J-T same suit) is unbeatable — it cannot be tied in Hold'em because only one suit can produce it on any given board.
