Table Positions

Where you sit determines how much information you have โ€” and information is everything.

Every seat at a poker table has a name. These names aren't just labels โ€” they tell you how much of a disadvantage or advantage you have. Players who act later in the betting have seen what everyone else did first, which is a massive edge.

The golden rule: The Button (BTN) acts last on every postflop street โ€” flop, turn, and river. This positional advantage is so powerful that experienced players will play significantly more hands from the button than from any other position.

The blinds (SB and BB) are the worst positions postflop โ€” they act first despite having already put money in. This is why the blinds lose money long-term even for winning players.

Under the Gun (UTG) acts first preflop and should only play the strongest hands. The Cutoff (CO) and Button (BTN) can open much wider โ€” they have the most information and the best leverage.
