Street Structure
How a hand progresses from preflop to showdown and how the pot grows.
A hand of poker is divided into streets โ stages where community cards are revealed and betting occurs. Understanding the flow is the foundation of every decision you'll make.
Pot builds each street: every bet and call adds chips to the pot. By the river, the pot can be many times the original big blind โ which is why pot control on early streets matters so much.
Preflop action starts to the left of the big blind (UTG). After preflop, all subsequent streets start from the small blind (or next active player left of the button).
If everyone folds at any point, the last remaining player wins the pot immediately โ no showdown needed. This is why bluffing works: you don't need the best hand if everyone else gives up.
