Exploitative Adjustments

When and how to deviate from GTO to maximise profit against specific players.

GTO is the unexploitable baseline. Exploitative play deviates from GTO to maximise profit against a specific opponent's known imbalances. The more extreme their leak, the larger your deviation should be.

Common leaks and exploitative counters
Leak: Folds too much to c-bets
โ†’ Increase c-bet frequency. Use any two cards on dry boards.
Leak: Never bluffs rivers
โ†’ Never call river bets without strong hands. Fold all bluff catchers.
Leak: Always continuation bets
โ†’ Float the flop and take it away on turns with any backdoor equity.
Leak: Calls too wide preflop
โ†’ Value bet thinner. Bluff less (they'll call those too).
Leak: Only 3-bets premiums
โ†’ 4-bet frequently for value; never fold to a 3-bet without a premium.
Risk of exploiting: Deviating from GTO makes you exploitable in return. Only deviate when you're confident in the read and when the exploit is large enough to outweigh the risk.
