Range vs Range

Think beyond your own hand — build and analyze full range interactions.

Advanced players don't think "I have top pair — do I bet?" They think "My range on this board has these properties — what betting strategy maximises EV across my entire range?"

This shift is the single biggest mental leap in poker development. Once you see ranges, individual hand decisions become almost automatic.

Range advantage example

BTN opens, BB calls. Flop: A♠K♦7♥

BTN range: all AX, KX, AA, KK, AK combinations — very connected to this board

BB range: wide calling range from preflop — fewer AX combinations (would 3-bet many), more 77, lower pairs

BTN has massive range advantage → can bet small at high frequency

Nut advantage: Even when both players have similar average equity, the player with more nut combinations (AA, AK, sets) has nut advantage — and should be the aggressor.
